Breaking into Tech
How can I break into tech? That’s the question on everyone’s mind. The world is entering this new era of web 3.0 and with Artificial Intelligence now taking center stage, more and more of you out there want to hitch a ride on the tech wave and ride off to financial bliss. I’m here to tell you that typically when someone promise you money and a golden pony that it’s probably to good to be true but that is not the case here. Ill be the first to tell you that all the videos, news and that annoying mother-in-law telling you to go to that boot camp to make more are all right.
A career in tech can offer you a job that often feels less . . . will like a job and more like a way to live your life. The world is moving away from the in office, 40 hour 5 day weeks to 4 day weeks and higher pay for performance.
But that’s the real question . . . right? Where do you get the knowledge to be alluring to all those tech recruiters on LinkedIn?

Boot Camps
A technical boot camp can offer you the same yet often better education in a career field than going to college and at a fraction of the cost of traditional schooling. According to Forbes, they found that the average cost for a boot camp was $10,825. Many of these can be as low as $0 dollars up front to around $1,300. When compared to the average cost of a college tuition at $20 -$30,000 a year you can start to see why many would rather get the skills they need for cheap and leave the random subjects to everyone else.
YouTube University
We have all heard the joke about YouTube being ones University of all knowing knowledge and yet its offers a practical way to learn skills at a fast pace. YouTube can be the free education you always wanted as long as you can put the skills learned to good use and create proof of knowledge. Many companies don’t require a college degree, just proof that you know what you are doing. A portfolio of projects is one way to show that you might not have a degree but you know what you are doing and companies in tech love them!
Certifications
Certifications allow you to show that you have spent time mastering a specific skillset which is why it is very appealing to employers who need that skillset in their business. They range from common skills like Microsoft Word to more highly sought after skills like CompTIA Security+ certifications for cybersecurity professionals. These can be great ways to close the experience gap and prove competency without a traditional education.
